SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Alexander J. S. Heidenreich, a Springfield cab driver and former Yellow Cab executive, has announced his independent candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Missouri’s 7th District in 2028, running under the banner “I’m for the 99.”
Heidenreich, 45, was raised by a poor single mother on Springfield’s north side. He served 17 years in prison and came home in 2017. He went on to serve as CEO of Yellow Cab in Topeka, Kansas, and today works as an independent owner-operator cab driver in Springfield — a job he still holds while campaigning.
“Washington is run by career politicians who have never punched a clock in their lives,” Heidenreich said. “I drive a cab all night in Springfield. I know what the 99 percent are going through, because I’m living it. Your past shouldn’t block your future — America loves a comeback, and this comeback is running for Congress.”
The campaign is built on an anti-corruption platform: term limits for all of Congress, an end to congressional insider trading, cutting and capping congressional pay, ending the influence of lobbyists, and ending big-business campaign donations. The campaign accepts no corporate PAC money.
Heidenreich previously ran for the U.S. House in Missouri’s 4th District and for President of the United States as an Independent in 2024, registering with the Federal Election Commission. He is also organizing a new independent political party in Missouri and gathering the more than 10,000 valid voter signatures required by state law to place it on the ballot.
“I’m not running against the left or the right,” Heidenreich said. “The 99 percent have more in common with each other than any of us have with the political class. Not left. Not right. Forward.”
The campaign’s website is im4the99.org. Heidenreich is available for interviews by phone, video, or in person in Springfield, including nights and early mornings around his driving shifts.
