The American bison is the animal of the American heartland — Missouri's own plains. It is not flashy. It is not elite. It does not ask permission. It stands its ground, it works, and it endures. That is who we are.
The herd. Bison move together. They circle up to protect their own — the strong shield the young, the sick, and the struggling. No bison gets left behind. That is what the 99% means: working people standing shoulder to shoulder, refusing to be picked off one by one by a system built for the 1%.
The comeback. The bison was hunted to the edge of extinction — down to a few hundred animals in the 1800s. And it came back. Millions roam again today. America loves a comeback, and the buffalo is the living proof that no matter how far down you go, you can rise again. Our founder knows that story personally. So does every working person who's been knocked down and gotten back up.
The 99. Beneath the buffalo sit the numerals 99 — framed in gold flourishes, because the working people of this country deserve to be framed in gold. The 99% are not a statistic. They are the cab drivers, the waitresses, the welders, the teachers, the single mothers, the veterans, the small business owners. They are Missouri. They are America.
Purple. Red plus blue. Not left, not right — both, blended into something new. Purple is the color of independence, and the color of dignity. Working people deserve dignity.
Gold. The color of honest value. Not the gold of Wall Street vaults — the gold of a day's honest work, of a paycheck earned, of prosperity that belongs to the people who create it.
